Which is the best modern high chair for your child?

· · · Comments

These days, choosing the right high chair is more confusing than it seems. There are so many options and they all seem great!

We decided it was time to compare six of of the most popular high chairs, priced between $150 to $300 and make this task a little easier for you. The brands we analysed are Oribel Cocoon, Joovy, Peg Perego, Baby Bjorn, 4Moms, OXO Tot.

Any modern high chair needs to be easy to clean, easy to recline at different angles, portable and easily movable. It should look great with your modern home decor and of course, be super comfortable for your child. Based on all of this, let’s jump right into which one you should pick!

Which high chair is the easiest to clean?

By and large, each of these six chairs were intended to be easy for clean ups and reduce messes. However, daily use makes the differences between them more obvious.

Oribel Cocoon

The waterproof EVA seat wipes down easily and is designed to make sure no food gets stuck in the corners or seams. The extra large feeding tray allows kids to make a giant mess! The tray comes in two detachable parts and the upper part is dishwasher-safe.

Joovy

The leatherette seat pad is soft and wipes clean easily. The tray can be removed one-handed and comes with a dishwasher-safe insert. However, parents do warn that the leatherette material sometimes starts to peel away after a while.

Peg Perego

Eco-friendly leather upholstery can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. The feeding tray comes with a dishwasher-safe liner.

Baby Bjorn

Smooth, rounded surfaces prevent food from getting stuck anywhere. It comes with an easily removable feeding tray that is also dishwasher-safe.

4Moms

The chair comes with a dishwasher-safe tray liner, and removable foam insert that’s easy to wipe clean. The add-on magnetic feeding bowls also minimise the chance of food being spilled far away from the chair.

OXO Tot

Removable cushions can be easily cleaned with a cloth. But the feeding tray is not dishwasher-safe.

Our verdict: Our top picks would be Baby Bjorn, Oribel Cocoon and Peg Perego based on ease of cleaning.

Which is the best reclining high chair?

With so many baby products in your house, those that grow and evolve with your baby are always a mom-win. The more a high chair can recline, the longer your child can use it, therefore making the investment very worth it.

Oribel Cocoon

Features 6 height adjustments and 3 comfortable reclining positions that work for napping and feeding. While your child is an infant, the feeding tray can be replaced with the unique Food & Cup Holder so that you can sit closer for unobstructed feeding. When your child can sit up, the large feeding tray doubles up as an activity table with plenty of space to hold things like crayons and paper.

Joovy

This chair is safe for newborns and has 5 different reclining positions with an adjustable footrest. So your baby can nap, sit up and eat in the chair. The tray is regular sized and is mainly suitable for meals.

Peg Perego

With five reclining seat positions, 9 height positions and 3 footrest positions, this chair offers a lot of flexibility, but comes at a price that reflects that. Your child can nap, eat, sit up and play in the chair as he or she grows up.

Baby Bjorn

While this high chair is designed to promote a better posture and support your baby’s spine, only the seat is adjustable, not the footrest. And it does not recline at all so there is lesser flexibility for an infant.

4Moms

This chair can be adjusted to 3 height positions and 2 tray positions so that your child can use it from infant to toddler stages. It does not have an adjustable footrest. This is also not a reclining high chair so it can only be used when your baby can sit upright.

OXO Tot

This chair does not recline, so while your child can start using it only when he or she is able to sit upright, it can then be used till 5 years of age. It has an adjustable seat and footrest positions. The seat, back and cushions are contoured for comfort and better posture.

Our verdict: The top choices in terms of reclining benefits would be Joovy and Oribel Cocoon.

Which is the most portable high chair and fits best in your home?

In modern homes with limited space, a high chair than can easily be rolled, folded and stored is essential. It should also be portable enough to move between rooms and complement your home and its design!

Oribel Cocoon

The sleek, minimalistic design fits right into your home and the high chair has wheels so you can move it around as needed. It folds easily and can be stored vertically without occupying much space.

Joovy

This high chair also has wheels and can be folded for easy storage. It stands on its own even once folded and the leatherette seat gives it a classy, modern look.

Peg Perego

This high chair has wheels on the back that automatically lock for safety. The chair itself can be folded quickly and easily. It stands on its own and can be moved around easily.

Baby Bjorn

This chair does not have wheels, but folds flat and takes up very little space. It also has a sleek, modern look but comes at a higher price than the rest.

4Moms

While you can adjust the height to fit this chair under a table if needed, it does not fold and therefore isn’t compact or easy to store when not in use.

OXO Tot

This chair also does not fold but isn’t too bulky either. However, it will not be easy to put it away after each meal or carry it around if needed.

Our verdict: Baby Bjorn and Joovy are the easiest to store, fold and move around.

There are a few additional factors that will help you choose the best modern high chair.
